Hi everyone! We are still alive. Had spent a few days doing nothing very exciting and then got real busy. Last post was February 21. Some of our friends have left for parts known and unknown. Norma & Ed left on the 25th for Overton, Nevada. Norma has a doctor's appointment in Mesquite on March 2nd. She needs a new hip.

Kathy & Bonnie left on March 1st for their home in Alabama. She is recovering from her rotator cuff surgery and they were just waiting for the final visit to the doctor before they headed out.

Friday, the 26th we went on what I thought would be our last Quartzsite quad ride. It was a rough ride through sand. Glenda, this neighbor of Glen & April's told us they had found lots of stuff left from the military training for the 2nd world war. She said they had magazines for machine guns, some had not even been fired. They also had found various other shells etc. She had the location marked on her GPS for the exact spot they had begun their search, so she came with us with her GPS and led us through hill and vale until she said that "this is the spot". I asked her when they were there, because there was nothing that even the metal detectors could pick up. Her reply was, "oh, it was ten or fifteen years ago". How many people, and how much sand has passed over this area in 15 years???? That is Glenda is sitting on the quad with her back to the camera. April is searching for stuff for her desert garden. She is the findingest person I know. She can find the most interesting cacti skeletons.

But in all that sand, there was a flower in bud.

Gordon was walking around and the ground gave way and he sank to his knees. There are holes in the sand everywhere. In the first picture you can see some of the holes. I can't imagine what this would look like in the heat of summer. Snakes and lizards and other creepy things.

Not for me!!!!

It was a cool day and we only went 24.7 km. I guess that was because I had laundry to do in the morning and Glen & April had company coming in the morning so we didn't leave until 1:00 pm. Loaded quads and drove north on Hwy 95 to the Copperstone Mine road then turned west. Couldn't get into the mine so rode behind it, then to the border of the Indian Reserve, then veered to the right. It was the least enjoyable ride so far.
