Sunday, March 21
We left Ajo on Friday the 19th, with Tucson as our destination. Gordon wants to visit the Davis-Monthan Air Show March 20 & 21 and the Pima Air Museum, and Old Tucson where movies were shot. It was Gordon's birthday, and he wanted to go to Golden Corral (or Golden Feedlots as Doug calls it). We drove 21 km to get to a Golden Corral, it is the first time this year we have gone to one, and when it is your birthday you have the right to pick the restaurant.
Saturday morning we were up bright and early and drove to Park Plaza, a mall where the shuttle to the air force base was loading. There was a three hour wait for a bus, the buses were coming and going just as fast as they could, and Phyllis couldn't take her purse on the base because it was too big. We had not read anywhere of the specifications, so we chose not to go the Air Show but rather we would do the museum. Phyllis and I said the fellows to go the show and we would enjoy the day at the mall, but I guess they didn't trust us with the bank cards and a whole day at the mall.
When we arrived at the museum we took a tram tour of the outdoor planes which was very interesting and informative. There were five hangers in addition to the outdoor display.
Dex, here is a picture of Mama and Papa standing by the Sakorsky Sky Crane, just like the one you and Papa built from Lego. It sure is big!
We were all very tired by the time we got back to the RV's.
Today, Sunday, Gord & Doug went to a Gun Show and around 2:00 we all headed downtown to a street festival. Took us 2 1/2 hours to walk the length of it. We didn't get to any of the side streets. There were some very beautiful things for sale, but we bought none of it. It didn't look like we were alone either. There was a ton of people but not too many bags that we could see. Spoke with a young man from Boseman, Montana and he said this was the biggest show he had ever been in. He made some very nice metal cacti.
Spent a quiet evening alone.
